The vineyards are beautiful and the wines speak for themselves. But the real value of Solms Delta is the people who shaped it. The true stories behind the wines are best told by the people themselves, many of whom are from families that have lived in the Cape Winelands, and on Franschhoek wine farms, for generations.
Wamkelikele – I love that word, it sounds what it means – welcome in a warm African way – the Solms Delta way. Arriving for lunch was turned into an occasion. The staff all smiles and welcoming when they lead us to a beautifully laden table on the shady verandah. Tables and shady umbrellas dotted the lawn under the trees and the sound of laughter floated through the air.
